Fellowship Programs

The Harvard Medical School Genetics Training Program is accredited by the American Board of Medical Genetics to offer training in:

The fellowships in Clinical Biochemical Genetics, Clinical Cytogenetics, Clinical Molecular Genetics, and Ph.D. Medical Genetics are each two-year programs. Trainees must complete a minimum of two years of training although most people complete training over a 2-3 year period. The first year is normally spent doing clinical laboratory rotations. During this time, the fellow continues to be active in research. Fellows also participate in didactic sessions during the entire 2-3 year training period (see Didactic Requirements).

IMPORTANT: There is no financial support available specifically for trainees in any of the Clinical Laboratory Fellowship Programs. It is expected that trainees will be funded by a research laboratory associated with the program. No additional stipend will be provided for clinical training. Trainees must first identify a research sponsor and source of funding before applying to participate in Clinical Biochemical Training.
