Important Note:   As of October 1, 2010, all annual regulatory training will now be completed each year between October 1 and December 31, regardless of your hire/employment/performance review date.

    Questions:

I just did my annual training in September 2010, do I need to do it again?
Unfortunately yes, this one year, as the hospital makes this transition to having everyone on the same schedule.

Where do I find the training I need to do?
Under "Assigned Learning" (under the "My Learning" tab- should be visible when HealthStream opens): "MGH 2011 Clinical Providers Regulatory Compliance Training" OR "MGH 2011 Hospital Regulatory Compliance Training". You will likely also be assigned "MGH 2011 Restraint Module Regulatory Compliance" (even though this doesn't apply to us, we still need to read through it). Everything you need to do is included under these trainings.

Where's the "Fire & Safety" training?
The names of the annual trainings have been changed- you won't see "fire & safety" for example, but it is included in the trainings listed above. Everything you need to do for the mandated annual training is included.

Why am I assigned training that doesn't apply to me?!?
HealthStream assigns trainings by job code- currently anyone with a clinical job code is assigned certain trainings. We are working to rectify this, but it may not be possible to change it. In the meantime you do need to do these trainings, but you can just quickly advance through the slides that do not pertain to your practice.

The Restraint Training is assigned to me. Can I just ignore it?
No, if it is assigned to you you need to complete it, whether or not you do restraints.  Some have found that it contains useful information even though it doesn't apply to directly to their practice, but whether or not you find it useful, you are responsible for reading it.

One of the required trainings asks me if I'm up-to-date with CPR certification.  This does not apply to me; what do I do?
Just answer "No". You will still be able to complete the section/training.

I don't remember if I already completed these trainings- what do I do?
If you have incomplete assigned training you will receive e-mail reminders from HealthStream as the due date approaches. Also as the due date approaches the dept's clinical directors and other mangagers will get a report of their staff's completion status. So if you are still concerned you can contact your director/manager and/or Ellen Forman.

    Where's the test?
There is no test. Just read the material and the system will record that you have done so. Then print out a transcript and attach it to your performance evaluation. (Go under the "My Transcript" tab and follow the instructions.)

I need more help, who do I contact?
For policy issues contact your clinical director/ manager. For technical issues see Instructions above, or contact the MGH Help Desk (x6-5085) or Ellen Forman (x6-5807, until 2:30 M-F).
