Patient Internet Access Guide
The Patient and Guest Wireless Internet Access Guide has gone through a revision consisting of changes to the procedures and instructions. The need for the change is due partly to the inclusion of the outpatient areas of the hospital. The popularity and changes to wireless technology has made it easier for people to gain access to the “phspiaguest” wireless-access point through their laptops or other internet capable devices.
“Phspiaguest”, (Partners Healthcare System Patient Internet Access Guest Account) is the open wireless access point that is available throughout the hospital for patients and guests to use with their laptops for gaining access to the internet in order to keep in contact with family, friends, and places of work, etc.
The Patient and Guest Wireless Internet Access Guide may be given to any patient or guest of a patient requesting access to the internet with their own laptop or internet-capable device. The guide is written to allow the individual to gain access to the internet on their own. As always, patient’s use of such devices is at the discretion of the patient’s nurse or physician since our patients’ health risks and safety are the top priority.
There is no longer a requirement that a Partners IS technician inspect equipment or assist with making the connection. However, if assistance from a Partners IS technician is required, the option of calling the Help Desk is available.
The Patient and Guest Wireless Internet Access Guides are available to be ordered through SmartWorks and Standard Register using stock #86143. The Guide is a print-on-demand item and the cost per copy is $1.96. It is shipped within 72 hours and delivered in wrapped packets of 50. A minimum order is one packet, or 50 copies. Using SmartWorks, you should requests stock item #86143, provide your cost center for billing, and your MGH mailing address for proper delivery.
